Artist History A healthy recipe for power-pop rock should go something like this: Start with a Who type rhythm section, add a generous helping of Zeppelin like crunchy guitars, pour over some smooth Beatle melodies and harmonies and top it off with a sizzling hot Claptonesque solo. The result will pretty much sound like the kick off to DB5's new three song CD sampler. Driven literally by these gutsy ingredients, the CD starts with a quick one-two punch, settles in for the ride then ends with a sing along, rocker. Fast moving music that's perfect for hitting the highway.Two native Long Islanders, Joe DeMeo and Lou LaRocco ,make up DB5, named after James Bond's gun-metal stallion of the 60s. Both having extensive touring and recording experience in other bands, they made their way to LA armed with a vast array of gear They've set up shop and have been performing and recording feverishly ever since. They're quick to cite the British Invasion as being a big influence on their songwriting, which accounts for the melodies and harmonies punctuated by driving rhythms. The singer/songwriter styles of Tom Petty and the group efforts of recent bands the Gin Blossoms and Foo Fighters also highlight their approach. Lyrically they set out on a positive, upbeat note while also capturing some of the everyday moods we all go through.Viewers to their web site have commented the teaser MP3 song, "It's Up To You," to sound like "Petty meets Fastball meets Foo Fighters" and " the Dave Clark Five on acid!" With no denying today's musical styles to be somewhat fast and fleeting, DB5 is firmly entrenched in the "classic" style of pop-rock placing emphasis on the melodies and structure and bringing adventurous life to a 3 minute "pop song."DB5 is now revving up to perform various upcoming local live showcases.
