    Artist History
I've been playing guitar and singing since age 5, and I wrote my first song when I was 9. I performed with Miss America when I was 14. Also in high school I had lead roles in all the musicals my junior and senior years. I got accepted at Berklee College of Music to study jazz composition, songwriting and guitar. After two years I left to play on the road with various bands that toured around the country. I did that for about 6 years, then I went back to Berklee to finish my bachelor s degree In songwriting. That was in '87. From that point on I've been writing, recording and performing all original music sometimes with a band and sometimes solo. In '89 I was picked as one of the best writers in Boston by ASCAP. In '90 I recorded an album at New Alliance Studios also in Boston. It was coproduced with Andrew Murdock, and featured Robert Holmes ('til Teusday) on guitar, and Steve Hunt (Allan Holdsworth Band) on keyboards. In '92, a song I collaborated on was on hold at Capitol Records. That same year I had a song on hold at Almo Music. With another musician, I had a spec deal at the Village Recorder In Los Angeles in '93. I recorded my second album in '95, self-produced. For the next few years I ran my own band called Thum. We recorded three demos. After that I recorded my third album, self-produced. Recently, I ve been studying with Pete Luboff. These days I'm writing and recording on my Cakewalk Pro Audio system, and performing in Nashville and Madison, Wisconsin. I've also been accepted at Northern Illinois University for their Master of Music program in individualized study where I'll be learning more about music history, composition, and analog/digital recording. I plan on going on for my doctorate at either the University of Wisconsin, or the Union Institute. It's what I want to do; I believe education is a good thing.

    Press Reviews
"Jim Miksche is a rare mix of gifted storyteller and purveyor of cool grooves. Those who are bored by most of the recent offerings in the alt, folk or country markets will find some relief here. The material is accessible without being redundant and fresh without being unfamiliar. Three cheers and four stars for Mr. Miksche." CJ Watson; Artist Development Rep-Associated Concerts and Touring Svcs, A&R-Valhalla Music Group, Host of Writer's Night at the French Quarter, Author of "Extreme Journey," and "Extreme Question" (Thomas Nelson Publishing). "...very friendly & good for the heart." Ralph Murphy; Vice President of ASCAP Nashville, songwriter (Crystal Gayle, Kathy Mattea)
