Artist description
Cleveland Ohio's answer to Matchbox 20 and Verticle Horizon. The band brings back a jangly, rock-n-roll sound that derives its power from very strong hooksrather than excessive volume.Lead singer / songwriter Frank Camp draws comparisons to artists such as Rob Thomas and Bryan Adams while backed be an all-star band of musicians.Frank writes great melodic hooks as frequently as Alley McBeal pouts. He is also one of those rare performers who carries himself as a “star” without a hint of phoniness. When he walks into a room, people notice. Frank is as genuine and accessible as a blue collar worker going out for a beer. When he talks, his eyes light up, his hands move with a demonstrative energy, and his whole being carries and infectious optimism. All os this translates into a stage presence not seen since Bruce Springsteen.Since the band’s inception in 1999, it has emerged as the savior of melodic rock in a region betrothed to Industrial and Metal bands a la Nine Inch Nails and Korn. The fact that this band has broken through so well is a testament to the group’s great music and undeniable presence. |

Artist History
Frank is a veteran of several successful bands, most recently as co-leader of one of the most popular touring bands in the Midwest, the simpletons. That band had reached the highest level of success that some members were willing to achieve and gracefully ended its run in 1999. Unsatisfied by regional success, and with a driving need to have an outlet for his songs, Frank Camp immediately formed his namesake band while enlisting the aid of some of the best young musicians in the area.Without taking a breathe, the Frank Camp Project filled the void left by the former band by performing locally and regionally in small clubs, colleges, and as openers for major acts. While each musician may be considered a virtuoso, each restrains himself just enough to allow the songs to be the hero of the show. And what a show it becomes: Hum able melodies. Danceable rhythms. Explosive musical breaks. At the same time, the group began recording the 12 songs that would become the debut CD, Ignoring the Obvious. Released in April 2000 to critical and fan approval, the full-length CD features sing along songs full of imagery, relationships, and intriguing wordplay. |

Press Reviews
Boundless energy and tight songwriting make the band easily accessible, and their obvious enthusiasm make them easy to love. With some solid support from commercial radio, these guys could be dangerous. With equal parts of Matchbox 20 and the BoDeans in perfect working order, opener Frank Camp had plenty to offer a crowd that seemed theirs for the taking. They rose to the occasion and delivered a finely tuned , 40 minute acoustic set of pop craftsmanship- tailor made to the evening at hand. The Frank Camp Project opened the show with a great set of acoustic rock. Delivering nice lead vocals, and warm harmonies, this band from Cleveland is another example of great unsigned music in the Midwest. They’re definitely a band worth catching the next time they come through Chicago. |
