Prepare for the Gedeon War.***** The Gedeon War is upon us. Prepare for it. Gargamel Music Productions has put in place steps to prepare your mind, at least musically. ***** Gedeon War is a rootsy, soulful rhythm, which feature the vocals of Luciano the Messenjah, the enigmatic Buju Banton, smooth singing Jahmali, Determine, Lutan Fyah, Spectacular and Vylmark. ***** The Gedeon War rhythm features culturally uplifting message music and should be welcomed by the lovers of quality music. Already pre-releases are being spun regularly on local radio. Luciano and Buju Banton make a formidable pair. The duo impress on the single Revolute. ***** The Banton takes it a step further, with his single 'Judgment Morning'. This is another piece of social commentary from Buju and he enjoys himself as he pelts out words of wisdom from the depths of his soul. ***** Jahmali is his usual smooth, self and delights with his love song entitled 'Let Love This Time'. He makes constant reference to ‘The little voice inside of me’, at intervals in the song. ***** Determine also stands out with his unique style of carrying across his message. Taking up the mantle of defender of the dispossessed, Determine hits out at the powers that be with his 'Tricks In Trade'. ***** Lutan Fyah represents the younger generation of artistes well as he displays superb professionalism with his Armagedeon War. 'Thanks And Praise' is another track that stands out. Done by Spectacular, this song should bring more focus to bear on the raw talent Spectacular posseses. ‘Give if you can give’, this energetic entertainer advises. ***** The roster of artistes is completed by Mark Ten, Anthony John, Chrisinti, along with Anthony Cruise and Kiddy Famous, among others. ***** The Rhythm track was constructed by: the Firehouse Crew. While horns were provided by: Dean Fraser and David Madden.***** The Gedeon War project is the brainchild of Gargamel Music Productions and is due for release on 16-December-2k, distributed by Penthouse Distribution Company. Get Ready for the Gedeon War.************ X-NEWS, Jamaica - August, 2000 ***** Buju and the Apostles of Aksum heat up Ocho Rios ***** By Karyl Walker***** Buju Banton and his Apostles of Aksum were in fine fettle at the Reggae Paradise club, Ocho Rios, at Reggae Trail talent search. Risto Benji, Iyashanti and The Hot Shot Crew also added to the vibes with efficient performances. ***** Also performing up to their usual standard were singers Yogi and Singing Melody, who were given the Herculean task of performing after the Gargamel. The Apostles of Aksum, who are under the guidance of Buju Banton’s Gargamel Music Productions, consists of three artistes that are set to make a lasting impression on the business of entertainment. ***** Mark 10, the first Apostle to grace the stage, won over a lot of admirers with his suave singing. Mark 10 certainly impressed the crowd on hand as he displayed his sweet voice range. He was followed by the talented Anthony John. The Rastafarian singer was awesome as he had the patrons totally into his performance. Anthony John was eventually called back by MC Bagga Brown at the request of the audience. ***** Lutan Fayah, the last of the Apostles of Aksum to perform, used his time on the stage to good effect. The multi-faceted artiste ejected whistles and the gun signals as he performed his debut release, 'Yesterday'. ***** After the Apostles of Aksum, Iyashanti inherited the mic. He was also well received. Risto Benji, reminded all present of his ability to entertain with catchy lyrics. After an encore, Risto Benji exited and made way for the four-pronged, Hot Shot Crew, who were also well received. ***** It was now time for the Gargamel and he did not disappoint. With a giant bud of herbs entwined in his locks, Buju entered with his 'Our Father' chant before delivering 'Exabir', 'Essence' and 'Close One', among others. He then called up his colleague, Galaxy P to strut his stuff. ***** After saluting Buju Banton as his father, Galaxy went on to score with 'Naw Naw Na' and 'Miss Goodie Goodie'. The crowd could not get enough of the Gargamel, however and screamed their disapproval when he tried to make an exit.***** He promptly returned to deliver a pleasing acapella performance that will be etched in the minds of all who attended for a long time to come. When he left, the consensus was that Buju and his Apostles of Aksum were definitely great performers. ***** The talent contest enjoyed good crowd participation, with patrons showing their approval or disgust with contestants. The top prizes were captured by Ipimo, who won the singers segment and the duo of Lyrics Banton and Rusta Rhyme, who emerged as the top DJ act. Both winners will collect $2000 for their efforts and a semi-final berth, where they will have a chance to compete for the top prize of $20,000, a recording contract and a trip to Miami. ***** The Reggae Trail Talent Search is sponsored by XNews, CVM and the Village Hotel.
