Artist History
The Interns were formed in July of 1998. The founding members were Matt (Drums), Tony (Bass), Justin (Vocals, Guitar) and Mike (Guitar). Although everyone enjoyed playing punk, the lack of dedication forced the band to go there separate ways in Fall of 1998. Soon enough Tony, Matt, and Mike were together again fooling around in Matt’s basement, nothing serious just a group of kids playing the music they love. After a few weeks, They decide it was time to find a real bassist, since Tony never really wanted to play bass. Within a week we had found Charles, who fit in nicely. The first few months with the new line up were a little shaky; Charles had been used to playing Metal, Mike was unsure of his sing abilities, and Matt really hadn’t taken his drumming to seriously. As time went on Charles adapted to playing Punk Rock, and Mike gained confidence in his singing ability, allowing he and Tony to split the vocals. Although our sound in the beginning was hardly punk, we kept our sprits up and worked on our developing our sound, any chance we had, we practiced. In February of 1999 we played our first show in Kent Ohio, at a hole in the wall punk club called The Mantis. That night we fell in love with playing shows. Since then we’ve played all over Ohio, and taken in active role in the community playing benefits for such organizations as The Bellflower Agency for Child Abuse Prevention, The ARA (Anti Racist Action), and The Collation to free Mumia Abu Jamal.
In March of 1999 we recorded “Keep Your Pants On!!" a four song cassette. The response we received concerning “Keep Your Pants On!!” was better than we could have ever imagined. In the summer of 1999 we plan on releasing our first full length entitled: “Short in the Front...Long in the back” on Outer Core Records. We will also be featured on Blacklight Records "100% Punk" compilation, set to be released in early October of 1999.
