Artist description The Pleasure Thieves have their artistic heart firmly placed in the bosom of the 80s, which, after all, is when rock music last was progressive. Perhaps it is no coincidence that rockstopped going forward once John Bonham's death signalled the end of Led Zeppelin - the mostimportant and influencial rock band ever. You can hear the ghost of Bonham in the Thieves'drumming (Childs) but it is also infused with some skittery stuff that wouldn't be out ofplace in the Pogues or maybe The Attractions.Moss on Precision Bass comes from that McCartney melodic school but flirts with that punk/dubthing (anyone remember The Rutz ?) and anyone who lists Johnny Moped as an influence has got tobe mad, or from Croydon, or both !Li, guitars and voice, completes the line up and is one of those complex characters that youcan never quite understand. The guitar style is easier to place. Think of Andy Summers, JimmyPage and Edge and you'll be there. The lyrics and voice are more difficult. Try Marc Bolan, add Neil Finn, Michelle Shocked even. It's mid-atlantic but about five miles high, metaphysicalone moment, lewd the next - two opposites in orgy producing an unplanned baby. Making anysense yet ? No - I thought not - you better have a listen !
