Artist description
Progressive hip-hop. L.M.N.T.S. stands for Loving
Music Never the Superficial and that is exactly
what they do. The group is founded on the ideal
that hip-hop does not have to be stuck on the
relatively narrow subject matter it has confined
itself to in the past few years. We try to look at
things from a new angle. |

Artist History
The group formed in October of 1996 when K.W.I.S.
Infinite, then known as Lil' Lee tha Riprazenator,
met Mishun T.E.S.T. at Cleveland Heights High
School. K.W.I.S. was a junior; T.E.S.T. a senior.
K.W.I.S. who had been MCing since 1992 had recently
left his old group, the Down-n-Unda Click due to
frustrations stemming from "creative differences."
K.W.I.S. was looking to form the "thinking man's
hip-hop group." He envisioned a group that would
pride itself in lyrical originality and intelligence.
When he met T.E.S.T., The Wise Guise, as the
group was known until December of 1998, was formed.
The group made a buzz in the Cleveland scene with
their energetic live show. They then signed with
local label Vandaloc Records where they recorded
their debut album, "Knowledge Is Eternal." Though
the album was rushed, it showed signs of the
brilliance yet to come. Now, a year wiser and with
a new moniker, the duo has returned to the studio to
begin recording their sophomore opus, tentatively
entitled "Remembering Tomorrow." The group has
left Vandaloc Records, as they have left Cleveland.
K.W.I.S. and T.E.S.T. now attend school at NYU and
Babson college, respectively. For the new album,
the group has retained some of its old sound by
collaborating with "Knowledge Is Eternal" producer
Dirty Rum. The duo has branched out
and is working on songs with both Queens-based
producer DJ Underdog and some live musicians. In
addition, K.W.I.S. has been rumored to have self-
produced at least one song for the album.
Judging from the variety and the bits and pieces
I have heard, the album promises to be an
underground classic and to get the L.M.N.T.S.
the east-coast recognition they are looking for. |
