Artist description
Julie Robbins is a singer/songwriter based in L.A., performing album-oriented rock and AAA, with a few other influences in between. The music is stripped-down & straight-ahead about real life. Music Connection Magazine described her this way, "Capturing a seasoned feminity with a Melissa Etheridge-styled voice, Julie Robbins is a true rock & roller...her songs cite life & love's ups & downs without sounding sappy or demure. " If you were to ask Julie Robbins to describe herself, she would say, "I'm not so much interested in being Ms. Thang or achieving fame & fortune, but rather, let's make some music! For me, it's THE way to stay aware to what's inside me & the world around me, and to make sure "it" gets expressed, whatever it is. It's not about the end result, you just have to get out there and do it! |

Artist History
I've been singing since I was a little girl. By the time I was ready to enter college, I was completely sold out on all things musical. Growing up in the classic rock & British invasion era, I was intrigued and could relate to the angst & fragility of Janis Joplin but drawn to the melancholy insights of Joni Mitchell. I was singing Elvis songs and standards by the time I was 4 years old. My grandparents played old country & bluegrass music so I had plenty of exposure to a variety of musical influences. I was classically trained vocally and thought opera was the way for me to go but after landing a weekend gig with an exceptional band, the next thing I knew I was in L.A. I wrote my first song when I was twelve and I've been working on my craft ever since |

Press Reviews
Music Connection Mag's live review said, "Julie Robbins doesn't have to hold anything back. Her refined talent takes the reins center stage to give her fans a good show." Music Connection said this about her CD, "Rainbow" - "With a tough and tender voice reminiscent of Heart's Ann Wilson, Robbins delivers lyrics whose keen observations are allowed to emerge...her gritty country music roots seem always to be bubbling under with an almost Neil Young-like quality that we liked." The Reader said, "a little bit of Blondie and Janis in her style...." Fast Lane Mag concurred, "Julie Robbins is in a class by herself. Words cannot describe so I won't even try -- totally unique." The Omaha World Herald had this to say, "Julie Robbins provides blonde sex appeal without being tacky about it, and she has a fine voice that really shines." |
