    Artist History
Background: Originating from the Seattle area, Hat Trick has been a band since late 1996 and has self-produced and released four albums - all D.I.Y. Their debut release was the 2 words, 3 Goals EP (1998). The sophomore album was a full-length titled Road to Succession (1999), followed by the full-length release Laughing at Derail (2001). Most recently, Hat Trick released a six song EP entitled The Customer (2002), Hat Trick puts on a tight, energetic show fronted by lead singer/songwriter and guitarist Anthony Lash (guitar/vocals). His brother Bryan (drums/vocals) has recorded and produced all four Hat Trick records. The newest addition to the band is bass player Paul Cullin (formerly of Seattle band Run Down). He succeeds Kris Anaya, who played bass from 2000-2002 and can be heard on Hat Trick's full-length Laughing at Derail. Hat Trick Highlights: Hat Trick has played numerous shows both in the Seattle area and on tour throughout Canada/Northern US, and California. In 1999, Hat Trick had the opportunity to play at the Seattle stop of the Vans Warped Tour with artists such as: Blink 182, LTJ, Pennywise, Ice-T, Eminem, Lit and more. Hat Trick also participated in the local Ernie Ball Warped Tour Battle of the Bands finals in 1998. Additional notable shows include opening up for Epitaph's very own SNFU at the Old Firehouse in Redmond, WA, and sharing the stage with the Ataris in Santa Cruz, CA in December of 2000. Hat Trick also recently embarked on a month-long tour through Montana and California. Booking all the dates completely on their own, Hat Trick played nearly 20 shows throughout the month of August 2002. Hat Trick plans to continue to write, make records and of course play many more shows. Preparation for yet another full-length album begins in the winter of 2002-2003.

    Press Reviews
From 206 Records magazine (summer issue 1999):HAT TRICK-Road to Succession CD"I heard the last DIY release from these guys and was blown away...this one is better. I heard six complete songs from a work in progress. This CD should end up with about 16 tracks on it. This band has a super clean melodic sound with great harmonies, cool vocals, and lyrics that eminate youth. These guys have a bright musical future ahead." Also see www.elfunnio.com for more recent details. PUNKMUSCIC.COM: (January 28th, 2002) Hat Trick, a melodic punk band from Washington state sing 1996, are heading into the studio again next month to record an new EP. These guys have released 2 full-lengths and 1 CDEP themselves -their 2nd full-length just came out last week. The new EP will contain 5 - 6 songs and is due out in the Spring. There's no title for the EP, but we'll post it as soon as they decide in one. This band and all like them deserve an immense amount of respect for remaining together for over 5 years and releasing all their own material. Eventually one of these bands is going to shut up all these stupid punk news sites that ramble on about what labels is doing what, and refusing to post DIY efforts. Well, things are changing on punkmusic and we want to hear about bands like this, so post away. Even if it doesn't make it to the front news page, at least we can still check you out and follow your progress- just like w/Hat Trick. Visit their self-maintianed website at www.hat-trick.com. -Trevor [punkmusic.com staff]
