Artist History
John Bixby aka Rubix began producing electronic music in the summer of ’98, seeking to create a unique blend of smooth and uplifting dance music. Though relatively new to the electronic scene, Rubix has deep roots in music, having played guitar for over 10 years, and draws upon diverse influences such as Pink Floyd, the Smashing Pumpkins, and well-known electronic masters such as Orbital and the Crystal Method. Energy laden and composed with confidence and mastery, Rubix’s music reflects the sunny and positive vibe of his southern Californian hometown of San Diego. In a short amount of time, the Rubix project has grown from its humble beginnings into an act displaying the maturity and know-how usually evident in more developed, established projects. Currently Rubix is working on taking his music live and releasing his first 12” on his own record label, Swerve Records. Catchy and spirited, Rubix’s music is a must for any groover seeking an excellent up-and-coming electronic artist on the rise. |

Press Reviews
"Rubix represents a surge of inventive music rising out of the techno house DIY world. The metallic funk waves and rubbery bass lines mixed with deep speedy beats are complemented with impressive production skills and originality. From his warped mind to your desktop ..." -from the electronic featured artist description at Riffage.com "For someone who hasn't been making music for a long time, Rubix is doing quite a nice job. He's got 'catchy' down pat and it's no wonder his tracks have done well over at mp3.com. Although the songs are mostly quite simple, they're effective because he's not spending hours trying to make a bunch of freaky, weird, experimental tracks that few will ever listen to. He does acid house and he does it well." - RAW42 "Highly melodic and upbeat, these pumping club tracks are brimming with positivity. Rave rhythms, tempered with soothing synths, receive generous doses of acidic energy for sweaty, satisfied groovers." - listen.com |
