Artist History
TrendKILL was first started about 4 years ago when Ray Cowan, Jonathan Ray, and Yousef Abbasi (myself)decided to start a hardcore band (called triple x) This was basically just a giant jackoff session, and nothing was ever accomplished, we just all kinda got the 'im in high school, lets start a band syndrome, so we spaced away from the whole thing. About 2 years down the road, me and Jonathan decided to start things up again, this time with Artie Adler on the guitar. As a three peice, we still needed a singer, we went through a bunch. but none seemed to work out. We basically jsut chilled and wrote some music. We got a hold of Ray (who was with some toher bands) and asked if he wanted to go full force with the band. So now with 2 guitars, a bassist and drums, we still needed a singer. We were thinking of Matt Willis to be the singer, but he was going away to college in S.C. so we got the next best thing...Matt's brother Josh Willis! Ray talked to Josh, and as soon as we all got together things started to click. In November of 1999 we started writing music in my house (garage) Ray started to slip on his appearences at practice, so we talked and we kicked him out of the band. After feeling pity and thinking "shit he is a damn good guitarist" we talked and Ray came back, this time with dedication. But of course, we had another problem. Ray played on a 6 string and Artie played on a 7 string. Artie said this wouldn't work, so we kicked ray out....again, because Artie was writing most of the music at that time. Boy did Ray get pissed, he never lets us forget those times...unforgiving bastard (hehe) On March 29, 2000, Artie brought his friend Cameron Cecil to practice, he was currently in a aband called Flux. They werent doing very well at the time. See Cam is a child prodigy with music, one hell of a guitar and bass player. So after that, it was bye bye Jonathan, hello Cameron. (Jonathan is now a band roadie) We were making progress now. We wrote 4 songs and decided to cut a premature demo. We saved some money and off we went....bad move, but a learning experience Record when you have more songs to work with. Soon after, i got nervous about the future of the band, and the band members habits, so i made a no drug policy. This lead to the loss of Artie in the summer of 2000. We were left as a 4 piece. We were on the look for a second guitarist. With the loss of Artie, we decided to change the name of the band from the adopted name 'Flatline' to the current and standing name 'trendKILL'. In the mean time. we moved practice from my garage to Ray's dad's paint shop while his ever so supportive parents built us a practice room. That meant killer iced tea from Ray's Mom every practice. (a while after.....) Cameron brings over his cousin and ex band mate of Flux, David Johnson, over for practice. We brought him in a month before our next recording session. We were 5 again, both playing on 6 strings. After writing many new songs, playing our first show, and planning to go back into recording, we lost David as a guitarist. We went into the studio as a four piece, cut our recent demo, and decided to stay a four piece... Ray guitar Cameron bass Yousef drums Josh vocals = trendKILL...Our sound is what we call 'sophisticated metal' we have a mix of heavy hitting lyrics, and aggressive harmonic lyrics. That sums up the saga of trendKILL...ENJOY |
