Artist History
Formed in 1998, the first song that Tyler and Steve ever played together was "Poets" by the Tragically Hip. The show was a huge success, and the two buddies, who had each been independant songwriters for years, began writing songs together. The result was magic, and in 1999, they released their first record, called the "Lonely Road ep." In 2000, The Poets first full length album, "Seasons Change," was released to rave reviews. They have developed a strong following in Winnipeg, with several pockets of fans in places like Kingston, St. Albert and Bethesda. This year marks the release of their 2nd studio album, "setting the mighty machine in motion." This record has been described as the most impressive work the poets have ever produced. Striking melodies with brilliant lyrics and stunning aural effects are the language of this step outside the box for the poets. The poets credit the success of this record to a more integrated effort by the band members and a willingness to experiment with sound and structure. |
