Artist description
Spacious K are a band of focused musicians with catchy acoustic guitar rhythm, tasteful electric guitar leads, bass and drum groove, good vocal harmonies and memorable choruses. The music leads you down a path of sensitive and introspective lyrics that focus on inner growth and discovery. The band is fronted by acoustic guitarist John Muka who provides his own brand of heart felt grooves that leave his heart and mind painted plainly across the music. The band includes the capable steamy electric guitar style of Todd Shapiro, the rolling bass groves of Troy Towsley, and the snappy drum strokes of Doug Klingensmith. The band is from Jacksonville, Florida where they play shows to packed crowds of fans who find it hard to let them leave the stage after every show. Spacious K shows are known to be a party with everyone actively singing the songs with the band. |

Artist History
In late 2000, John Muka answered an ad in the Folio classifieds. As his solo career was taking off, he was looking to bring things to the next level by hooking up with other established musicians. This call was going to be different though. These were not just any musicians. The band that John was calling this time was made up guys that have come very close to landing big deals in the past. They had worked with proven talents such as Fred Durst (Limp Bizket) and Kim Falley (Writter/producer for Warren Zevon and others). This band was being put together for one purpose only - to go straight to the top. John knew this would be a rare opportunity and at his audition, he gave it his all. On the other end, Troy Towsley and Todd Shapiro were just finishing up their new studio. They were about to record their new CD in preparation for a Spring 2001 release. After auditioning much of the local talent, they lined up Doug Klingensmith on drums and were about to make a run of it as a trio when the phone rang. An acoustic player/writer looking for a band. Troy and Todd had been looking for an acoustic player so they could re-package their music with a contemporary sound that had been a part of so many of their influences. The fact that John, an alto, completed a perfect 3-part harmony didn't hurt his chances for a spot in the new group either. After a couple recording sessions, it was becoming obvious that these 4 guys were onto something. What started out to be a set of scratch tracks to feel out the sound started to become a hot item. Everyone who listened to the rough mixes wanted a copy. The band decided to polish off their Dave Matthews Band - meets - rock n' roll recording and release it as their first CD of many to come. There's one thing for sure, behind the eclectic band name, artwork on the cover and the slick studio production this band is relying on great songs and a big sound to be the backbone of their success. |
