Artist description
Formed in São Paulo – Brazil in the 1996´s year mixing fury and agressivity with a great melodic sense the band Mojo proves that has something new to offer to the underground brazilian scene. After 4 demo-tapes released Mojo starts to have a good receptivity in the brazilian communication means. In the demo-tapes we hear such an eclectic band that becomes difficult of being labeled in little words. In certain moments we have the impression of be hearing different bands but always with an own style of music. Finally, the group defined the style Mojo, giving strong life to the underground scene. |

Press Reviews
Here's another brazilian band for you people. I think it's funny that, even though we don't have an established metal scene here, we actually have some really competent bands here and there. Mojo is another example of this. What amazed me about Mojo's sound is it's diversity. In the same demo, you find songs similar to Limp Bizkit, deftones and even Radiohead. "Set Me Free" is just your typical heavy song. Rappish vocals, heavy guitars, and everything else you may think of. "When Waits For God", which in my opinion is the best song of the demo, reminds a bit of deftones. Melodic vocals, and a catchy chorus. You can't believe how beautiful this song's chorus is. "Wrong? Maybe..." reminds me a lot of Radiohead. Just a real melodic vocal track, which in the end of the song kinda turns into screams, and the beat and feeling of one of Radiohead's songs. "Request Or Require" is another heavy song. Good guitars in this one, particularly. One thing that I dislike in Mojo, though, is it's singer, Flávio. I mean, don't get me wrong here. He has a good voice, which ranges between one of the most melodic voice you ever heard to some really harsh screams. He just don't know how to use it, and get's out of tune a lot, actually. It's nothing that can mess with this tape though. Mojo's another band which joins the yet to be big new metal brazilian bands scene, which counts in with bands like Pimps, Unfashion, Deceivers, Punch, Profana and now Mojo. God bless the brazilian scene. Demo Rating: 4/5 (1=Shit, 2=Ok, 3=Average, 4=Dope, 5=Amazing). Pedro Einloft - Pimp Rock Palace http://www.theprp.com |
