Artist description
Fear of Commitment spins a number of intense, low-key songs. Or, to put it another way, these songs sound simple and inviting, but they have one hell of an undertow...in a way that manages to escape cliches. FOC blends contemporary folk themes with power pop sensibilities. |

Press Reviews
"...By shifting perspectives and stripping everything down to the core, Fear of Commitment has put together some stunning songs. Every note feels like a raw nerve. No matter how pretty the songs are (and many are gorgeous), there's usually something dark lurking.Knab...is able to make the sweetest song a harrowing experience and then pull everything back to one at the end. This must be heard to be believed. (Aiding & Abetting, December, 2000)"...Sarah Knab (vocals/guitar), Niall Hood (guitar/bass/vocals), Ken Zalewski (drums)...make such gorgeous music that one is compelled to dedicate oneself to proudly walk the FOC path, forever and ever. Amen. (Washingtoncitypaper.com, 2000)Paper Dolls and Paper Plates was named one of the top 25 local releases by Eric Brace of the Washington Post. (Washington Post, 2000)"Niall Hood of Sixty Acres does double duty in a band called Fear Of Commitment - a wonderful io featuring a strong vocalist in Sarah Knab. Guest keyboardists and strings fill out the sounds on the great Paper Dolls And Paper Plates CD. This is gentle, evocative, and moody pop that scores with tracks like She's Won, Times Have Changed, and the great (and groovy) Absolutely Everything. Nice breezy pop..." (Shake It Up!, 2001) |
