Artist description
The Deacon Blues Band has been playing around the Portland OR metropolitan area since 1999. While the band stylistically is rooted in blues, they are trying to push the envelope by incorporating various elements of R&B and jazz into their arrangements, creating a very aggressive sound musically. The band is fronted by the bluesy and gritty vocals of Tom Peterson, who also plays Harp and Percussion. Keyboardist and Hammond B3 player Charles A. Wilson provides the arranging genius behind the sound of the band, while drummer Kenny Dailey, bassist Ron Dunagan, and rhythm guitarist Tom Fitzgerald provide the groove and foundation for their material. The sonic spice in this "blues stew" comes from the solo work of lead guitarist Donny Burch, adding just the right amount of rock and blues to make the aggressive sound of the band "just right". |
