Press Reviews
"Wreckage"The Surge is on! Imagine a cross between classic ORB, the beautiful ONE DOVE, a hint of Dub Reggaeand haunting vocals by Becky Kaye and Sally Strawberry! SURGE`s Debut Album “Wreckage”is either a Chill Out Paradise or the new road to "Spook Pop"....one of these truly inspiredAlbums which will get stuck in your CD Player forever! Tracks like "Wreckage", "Falling Moment"and "Falling Down" manage to work in a new perspective on Big Beat Chill out! Their main skillseem to be mashing up Detroit Techno strings with funky irresistible beats! With track 8, "Falling Down", you are lying on your back wafting along with paradise flooding out of the speakers!"Be With You" and "Forever Dreaming" are hauntingly beautiful tracks while "She Brings The Rain" is up for a Hip Hop groove spiced up with impressive string arrangements! Finally, "Here And There" isprobably the closest thing you’ll hear to Primal Screams classic Screamadelica for years but with anevil edge! All these rather impressive ingredients are supported by SURGE`S strong ability to writeproper tunes, supported by the now finally announced new member and singer Becky Kaye!“What a debut! New Music is very hard to make but this has depth, soul and innovation!” - KRIS NEEDS January 2000 |
