Artist description
A dark and meaty post-alternative generation sound that claws its way into your head and stays there.A fury of fast paced, syncopated chords are offset by incredible vocal harmonies that will raise the hair on the back of your neck. The result is a war between voice and instrument that yet, is still beautifully simplistic. The lyrics could make this group the champions, of the socially bruised and battered. |

Artist History
Out of the ashes of lives torn by lies and death came Phoenix, and every note is a testament to it.Front man Jason Sheppard, staggering away from a hard adolescence and first love gone horribly wrong, met his soon to be band mates while they were coping with the murder of a dear friend.Mike Atchley and Bill Neiman joined in with Jason and bassist Scott Cotton, as a side project to their Gothic Industrial band: Caustic Soul. There Phoenix was born. Close to a year later, Mike and Bill departed Casper, for a more populated area, to help promote Caustic Soul. But before they left, they had helped shape the band into what it is today. The sound became darker, and more complex, tying them to the history of the band forever. After Atchley and Neiman left town, during his search for new members, Sheppard wrote and recorded the band's first album: An Hour For No One. Word was out about the band and recruiting was not a problem any more. Drummer Jon Mathern, a one time band mate, gave Jason a call when he heard that Phoenix needed a new percussionist. After several guitarists washed out, Phoenix settled as a three piece in early 2000.As it stands today, Phoenix became a solid band. To compensate for the lack of a lead guitarist, Jason's writing style changed again to a fast paced, bone jarring sound. After a few shows the band decided it was time to record as a group, and the wheels were set in motion for their second album: Where The Beginning Ends. It was a huge project, but seven months later it hit the local stores and radio running. This established Sheppard's independent record label: Phoenix Music Productions. In 2001, Jason Moved to San Jose California to take his shot at the record industry. After two years of work with a local cover band, he decided to move back to Wyoming after running out of money. Within months he wrote and recorded the third Phoenix album, "3". It is currently slated for release in september 2003. That is where the beginning ends. For now.... |
