Artist description
Through the windows of a comic book the average kid could always be a hero.To be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, own nifty gadgets and show crafty ingenuity. In this day and age the comic’s paper has yellowed and the vivid colors are somewhat faded. Well leave behind the flat surfaced space where you can only dream. Imagine, to be your own superhero - multidimensional creations, a microcosm of society. Soiled colors, as you are the realism of modern pop culture. In 1999, when others were stockpiling for the breakdown of modern civilization Mrs. Fletcher started their band. Somewhere within the hooks and infectious riffs of contemporary music and the daring of the extreme sounds these five male protagonists found their Hall of Justice. It’s place where they could be themselves and translate the deafening music in their heads - a musical Ed Wood meets Space Ghost. The group’s name stands boldly on the Memphis heavy scene. They are seen endorsing fans and local bands alike. Their demo tapes have permanent homes in stereos around town pulsating a subliminal message of what’s to come. The whispering has already reached a roar about Mrs. Fletcher’s year 01 release “Homestyle Suicide Devices.” Defenders of the hard music faithful, the band is influenced by the larger than life reverberation of acts such as Faith No More, Clutch and Marilyn Mansion. Their articulations are championed alongside emerging peers like Mindless Self Indulgence, System of A Down and Slipknot. Mrs. Fletcher’s live show can offend the conventional watcher as it strives to rouse the senses and increase that valued entertainment dollar. The band employs visual stimulants as the perfect accompaniment to their Rorschach like audio experience. Ask any member of the band to describe their sound and you’ll get confused looks. They understand they are different, but humbly wonder why anyone could be so stunned: Weaned on shock tv, lifelike video games and the search for flesh and blood self in a microchip operated world. The result is heavy yet melodic, aggressive while often swooningly emotional and lacking self-pity or apologies. For the conformist listeners who need a corresponding description just call them syncopated spook core and welcome to their world. |
