Artist History Gary Adkins was born with a love of music that has led this Chicago native, fourth born in a family of five, around the world to spread his gift and love of music.By the age of seven, he had made up his mind to accept his destiny.With a voice that can best be described as smooth as silk, with incredible range, control, and passion, Gary’s natural talent is undeniable.Performing locally in and around Atlanta from a young age, spending two years at the infamous Berklee College of Music (Boston, Ma) and becoming a semi-finalist on the nationally syndicated T.V. show Star Search, he began a life dedicated to leaving behind a legacy of heart felt R&B stylings straight from the deepest regions of his soul.Gary has been approached by many major players in the music industry, including representatives of MOTOWN, MCA, QWEST, and many others. But first signed with well known producer Gene Griffin (Teddy Riley, Guy, Basic Black, etc.) around the same time, Gary had offers to perform overseas, and chose to accept this opportunity that took him to many countries around the world, including Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, Philippines, Germany, Korea, and Hong Kong to name a few.After returning to America, Gary moved to Los Angeles, Ca where he was heard by the legendary Joe Isgro, who quickly signed him to a contract that led to the release of his first solo CD Gary Inner City Blues, which included the remake of Marvin Gay’s classic hit of the same name. Gary’s first single reached No. 20 in Billboard’s Dance Chart 8/27/94 as well as No. 12 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under R&B HipHop Singles, for the same month.Three years later, a song Gary wrote, produced, and sang, Mind Over Matter, was on the Quality Time Cream Cuts Chart (1997),In the top twenty for two months in a row.Expansion Records in London also liked what they heard and released two compilation CDs that included three songs from Gary’s solo CD, that landed him on Europe’s Sweet Rhythms Charts.Gary has made appearances on many television shows around the world, as well as recorded (vocals) television commercial jingles for such companies as Budweiser, Toyota, Coca cola, Japan Airlines, Mitsubishi, P&G, and many others, some of which he wrote as well.
