More than two years of recording and arranging between Canada and Britain has created a digital platter of genuine gems entitled "The Horny Astronaut". Produced by Paul Schroeder( whom Zolty met in a pub in east London fall 99, both of them hit it off , by the end ot that evening not even having heard any of Zolty's previous albums Paul graciously offers to produce "the horny astronaut") the new disc displays the distinctive grit and massive vocal range of Zolty while the music drugs one and drags them through a maze of rhythms reminiscent of voodoo ritual and quiet, anxious, gut-wrenching love stories.Horny Astronaut begins its journey with the hypnotic space-groovin’ title track introducing the listener to the lead character, moves into the rock-driven“Love Love Gone Love”, into the french cinema “Vie sans L’amour”, and the daring ballad “Ow” in which Zolty makes no effort to conceal his vulnerability and desperation.The looping, percussive “Almost There” includes voice samples of Yuri Gagarin, the first human to orbit space. The voyage is completed with the piano-based primal pounding of “Land of Giants” and special track “Piece of Time” which was recorded at a churchy studio in North London featuring Zolty Cracker and harmonies by Martin Chambers of the Pretenders. The illustrious past of Mssr. Zolty has seen him mainstage in Zolty Cracker (Annie Wilkinson and Wayne Adams) at major festivals and appearing on radio charts in the U.S. and Europe. The tours have seen him repeatedly filling clubs in Norway, Belgium, Slovenia, U.S.A., and Britain (to name a few). Zolty’s line-up includes Andrea Hector’s astoundingly solid grooves on bass and whose harmonies breathe in unison. She also plays in Hector, Mudgirl and Kelly Brock. On drums and percussion is Paul Alexander, who’s history includes 9 years in Terror of Tiny Town and a brief period in Hissy Fit. His intensity and dynamics complete the trio’s core. Preceding the release of “The Horny Astronaut” in early 2001, Zolty will again hit the road with his incendiary live show, beginning a 6 country, 6 week western European tour in the spring of 2001, followed by a North American tour.
