Artist History
Glued together from the matchstick boat remains of scouse crew Graven Image (Ted) and local favourites Earshot (Ken), and following an intoxicated club conversation about forming a band, the first recruits were Million Dollar Dan (Red Hail, Charm School), his brother Mike (Atmospherics... don't ask - those last 3 bands are akin to the naked baby photos your mother shows your first girlfriend - but everyone needs a hobby), and Dr Rhythm - the world's tightest drum machine and a lump of plastic to which we owed a great debt of gratitude. That was until Ken called upon the services of ex-Earshot drummer Martyn "No drums" Cheesman. A man with literally... no drums.
What's the big idea?
Early Sunday studio sessions that followed, to which Ted was impeccably late and at least 3 of the remaining members would be hung over, amazingly managed to spawn a number of songs. Songs of a genre known as heavy emo indie apple core scrap metal rock and soon to be unleashed at gigs with the likes of ex-Prodigy man Gizz Butt's punk outfit Janus Stark and Mancunian noise gods Kill 2 This.
Hindsight.. now so called after the band realised neither "Free Sex & Beer" (imagine the crowds) nor "Four Blokes and a Scouser" quite conveyed the mood and after (here comes the professional bit) the band realised that the way forward was to use the benefit of individual hindsight to bring regressive experience to a new ... became "the band you never expected."
Somewhere in-between this live hiatus the Prefix- ep was recorded (thankfully someone had a spare drum kit). Gigs further afield, a London bound band, and shows that followed sometime during which the chaotic, interminably late and intoxicated Hindsight sharpened up and became regarded as a "real band". Until Martyn announced his departure from the band.
Sadness followed...
But the band soon met ex-Cipher man Tom Alflatt and, impressed by the fact he possessed his own drums and after watching him beat the skins like they'd insulted his mother, at the final Cipher gig, decided to recruit.
Press followed...
Reviews, interviews, headlining offers, four compilation CD appearances, a professionally produced video and a show with band of 2001 Lostprophets as Martyn's finale. Festivals, appearances with the likes of Rachel Stamp and the emergence of a strong and genuine local fanbase. Ted gaining the stage found ability to excite young girls with a thrust of his cheeky scouse hip. Mike consistently regretting the decision to throw his best hat into the crowd at the end of gigs. Ken's mic moves smoother than a Latino silk worm. Dan's challenge to Ted in the "most autographed female body parts" stakes.
Bringing to attention the Hindsight of now. With much promiseā¦
