Artist History Bards of Thore consists of Björn Wernersson (guitar and vocals) and Tomas Nilsson (guitar and bass). Tomas has long been fascinated by classic, medievaland folk music and has often been influenced by these styles when working with his hard rock bands. He first discussed this casually with Björn, a childhoodfriend, in late 2000. Tomas had accidentally heard a recording that Björn had made of his own voice and took a liking to his singing. They got together to write a song and "Dawn of Man" was the result. For "Dawn of Man", Björn and Tomas used the tracker program called Fast Tracker II. They soon realised,however, that it took longer to arrange the songs this way, so after this first recording they decided to use only real instruments. The name took a bit longer to figure out, but when both eventually suggested the same name it was a given. The texts are based on a fantasy world which Tomas, Björn and Mats, Björn's brother, developed whilst playing as children. The remarkable thing about Bards of Thore is that the duo has very different musical backgrounds: Tomas is a self-taught hard rock guitarist whereas Björn has mainly played classical music on his guitar, which he has learned to play in a municipal school of music.
