Artist description
Since the start of their career; the two extremely talented vocalists, Jeff Valentino and Butter Lee, collectively known as the Rawcotiks, have painted a precise and vivid picture of what life on the street is all about: clubbing, drugs, ladies, beef, backstabbing, etc. Rawcotiks were born and raised in Washington Heights, NY and in order for an artist to get more visual about these mean streets, he or she would have to study the Heights for the next 25 years and live that life. For the Rawcotiks, that's been a "been there, done that" situation |

Artist History
In 1995, Rawcotiks released the hip-hop anthem "Harcore Hip Hop" on Freeze Records. Despite the lack of support from their record company, the tune would make its way to the true DJ's crates. One of those DJs was DJ Premier, who later remixed the single with his golden touch of street sound. Two years later, Rawcotiks released their second effort "Nevertheless b/w Real Heads", produced by Carlos "C-12" Bess (Wu-Tang, Shabazz the Disciple). Till this day the single has been ringing bells throughout the underground. In 1998, the Rawcotiks returned in a round three effort to shake the hip hop world with the single "Life Your Life b/w Magic Chef". Produced by V.I.C. of the Groove Merchants (Nas, Fat Joe, Big Pun, Artifacts, Powerule), "Live Your Life" displays the lyrical side of these two young men and has proved that they are definitely and act to be reckoned with. The B-side "Magic Chef" was produced by Junkyard Juju of the Beatnuts, whose group affiliation speaks for itself. The Rawcotiks were featured on DJ Honda's second album Hill on the track "For Everyday That Goes By" They will also appear on his third album, hill, set to drop in the first quater of the year 2000 on DJ Honda Recordings. |

Press Reviews
Rawcotiks consists of two impressive vocalists: Jeff Valentino and Butta Lee, the answer to hip-hop's sudden obession with Dominicans. Each armed with his own distinctive style, and can paint vivid pictures of topics which range from currency to skills to the ever-present wack mcee. As Lee's unpredicable change of style naturally mixes in with Valentino's diverse use of rhyming syllables, each song on their demo carries a different vibe - lyrical, hardcore, criminal or reminiscent.
