Artist History
The Nukes relocated from hometown St. Louis to San Francisco in '92. After releasing two CD's on SF-based New Red Archives, the band released their debut PopSmear release late in '98. The record is doing great on west coast college stations and the band, who features the undisputed best live show on the planet (except for the Boss, of course), will tour the west in support of their new release throughout '99, including dates throughout western Canada with the Alley Boys. Look for the band to ignite stages across the US on their way to and from hometown St. Louis this summer. |

Press Reviews
The following is some of the band's recent press. (If you have any to ad, please let us know.) This collection is notcomprehensive, but it should give you a good idea of what’s being written about the band’s music and shows of late. New Music West Schedule Publication - Produce No Fruit The Nukes have completed their metamorphosis into a well rounded recording band without losing the undeniable passion andenergy that have made their live show a cult experience. Skratch - Produce No Fruit "strong, tight pop with occasional melancholy overtones. There's lots of variety here. Probably best for the college radio orientedamong you." Riverfront Daily Newspaper - Produce No Fruit "[Produce No Fruit] has the diversity, hooks and radio smarts the band was missing in its earlier days, combined with an energeticrecording punch." BAM - Produce No Fruit ". . .chuggimg guitars, spastic rhythms and catchy melodies with equal passion. . .recalling the noisy fervor of Nirvana’s Bleach, particularly on the destructive grunge throwback Stress Magnet." Yeah Yeah Yeah - Produce No Fruit "Hard, not-so poppy rock and roll. There’re hooks, but there tossed into a solid heavy mix of guitars, bass and drums. Basically, this is what we call Rock. Could sell a lot and unlike shit like Creed, these guys aren’t imitating anyone. They have their ownidentity." Gavin - Produce No Fruit "Known for their bad-ass live show, the Nukes bring in the sledge-o-matic on tracks like: Real Life, Steal the Sun andEventually. . .The Nukes will blow you a new hole." NXNW Schedule Publication - Produce No Fruit "On their ‘97 album, Nukes look at society through a delightfully off-beat lens through three-chord, crunching tunes like Pollen,Community College Fight Song and Couples Skate Only. . .an expansive brand of power-pop that drives to the edge of punkbut playfully pulls back. . .Vocalist Packy Renolds sings with melodic flair." BAM - PopSmear Showcase "My favorite thing. . .is when the punk-rock singer makes ultra-intense super-focused faces because he’s so overblown with rage, raging against the ”corporate rock” machine. . .the drummer in the Nukes rips, and his rich vocal harmonies do the band a worldof good." |
