Artist History
Mstar are myki and KT Steele.
myki is a guitarist and computer musician with a background in pop and Commodore 64s. One of his earliest achievements was the transcription of that great acoustic guitar bit from 'Goodbye Blue Sky' to a series of murderous bleeps on a C128. Hmmm. myki also dabbles rather heavily in 3d animation and computer graphics. It has been noted that myki has a disturbing preoccupation with guitars that go backwards.
KT Steele is a sumptuous vocalist with more raw talent than most of us
like to have to watch. This combined with an eclectic approach to her
beloved DX7 and a precocious musical intelligence produces...results
man, results. A background in musical theatre has prepared her well for
the next phase...
myki and KT, together with Francine the DX7 and Templeton, the world's
most rock star Discman, combine to create their own extra-specially
warped blend of trip-hop-pop.

Press Reviews
"[their] sound is built from progressive house cum ambient foundations with live percussion, guitar and vocals performed over the top. myki's vocals were uttered with a dominating pitch that demanded attention over the instrumentals and percussion. This fusion of styles provided a refreshing change."- Zebra Magazine
"Mstar kicked off the evening by drawing the early crowd from the bar to
the Theatre room. With their mellow minimalist backing tracks interlaced
with KT Steele’s angelic vocals and keyboard playing, and Myki’s acoustic
guitar and vocal work, these guys were the perfect duo to lull people into
the SemiKazi vibe for the evening. A good sound and dazzling lighting
helped the evening kick off without a hitch (which continued throughout
the 13 acts to follow). As they worked their way through songs like Hohn
and Sub, Katie took the mic in hand and grooved around the stage as they
did their bit for the cause."- Rockus Online magazine |
