Artist History
"Gel" is a high-octane blues-rock trio from West Lorne Ontario. It was formed when drummer Bruce Bobier and guitarist Nathan Ouellette began jamming in early 1998. They eventually added bassist Andrew Schneider to their line up and began to play local club gigs. Upon playing together for the first time, frontman Nathan Ouellette casually remarked, "We really gel!" And from that statement the band extracted their name to describe their sound. The music blends blues with elements of rock, funk, and jazz improvisation. That, coupled with the intensity of punk and over-the-top stage antics make seeing Gel live an often riveting experience. The list of influences from which Gel derives their sound from are vast and varied. Their approach is akin to a super-charged version of 60's supergroup Cream. The positive response to this style has gained Gel numerous successful gigs both in the U.S. and Canada. |
