    Artist History
In 1995, Deflator Mouse's debut album on PopSmear Records Think Like A Mountain received strong rotation at college stations across the U.S. Option Magazine hailed the band's "undeniably strong sense of how to layer a pop arrangement" and Chris Carey (MCA/HITS Magazine) touted the band's "uncanny mixture of pop sensibility and angst" in the well-respected A&R tip sheet Next flash. Since then, Deflator Mouse released its second PopSmear release if god were a d.j and re-located from Orange County to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1996. Deflator mouse has recently recorded a handfull of songs for a new CD entitled "BSTW", which will see a June 10th release.

    Press Reviews
The following is some of the band's recent press. (If you have any to ad, please let us know.) This collection is notcomprehensive, but it should give you a good idea of what’s being written about the band’s music and shows of late. Listen.com - if god were a d.j. . . "From noisy pop-punk barn burners to sensitive accoustic baladry. Deflator Mouse are tough enough to fight but sensitive enoughto hug. Dangerously catchy." Skratch - if god were a d.j. . . ". . .the album rocks. . .Llamas’ nasal vocals on tracks like Son and I Just Wanna are a nice combination of Wall of Voodoo’s StanRidgeway and Richard Butler. . . heavily influenced by Bob Mould in the best sense of the pop word. . .more than a smidgen likeDinosaur Jr. . .A solid album." BAM - PopSmear Showcase - Hotel Utah ". . .this show really rocks. . .Llamas plays a mean six string and writes one hell of a tune (see Whore) when he wants to, which, judging by the boatload of anthemic hook rockers he docked on this night, is all the time. Think old Soul Asylum grit, smart andgrind with some old-school punk and new-school folk feeling around the edges. Scott, play out more." Flipside - if god were a d.j. . . "Scott’s lyric writing is top notch. . .This is really good material and I look forward to hearing more from them. . .I want to hearthese songs re - released done with Butch Vig or something. . .Buy the CD and then if PopSmear can help break the band you cansay you had this one when." Option - if god were a d.j. . . ". . .intelligent wordplay and a little extra guitar squall. . .Many better - known bands would kill for a piece of songwriting like Macedonia. . .If there’s any justice left in this world after O.J., this guy will get the chance to keep cranking out tunes." Yeah Yeah Yeah - if god were a d.j. . . "Good proof that indie punks know their pop. Fine production. . .and the boys know how to write a tune. " The Album Network - if god were a d.j. . . "when Deflator Mouse’s debut Think Like a Mountain was added by both Commercial Alternative specialty shows and collegeRadio, the industry’s A&R mavens flew into high gear. . .instead of going the major league route, they released if god were a dj. ..(on the label they founded, PopSmear). . ..Second to None shoots to the front with a great indie pop sound, accenting ScottLlamas’ creepy cool vocals." Next Flash - if god were a d.j. . .(pre - release cuts) "post-punk riffs and clever lyrics. . .an uncanny mixture of pop sensibility and angst. . .Deflator Mouse make musictwenty-somethings whole heartedly relate to and critics spill plenty of ink over."
