Artist History
My daughter came up with the name 9xdead (Gothic Punk Metal) after watching a programme about Meercats, one narrowly avoided being caught by a bird of prey. She then mentioned the fact that the Cat has only eight lives left, so hence lose 9 lives your dead = 9xdead.
Chris, Paul and I formed the band in 1998, but due to personal reasons we split up until 1999 when Chris and I reformed 9xdead with the help of a couple of others (who lasted less than 3 months) and played our first live show in the Autumn of 1999. We met Owen who was to be 2nd guitarist but who ended up singing and being 1st guitarist, we managed a handful of shows, then in the Autumn of 2000 we enlisted the services of Rachel to come in and provide 2nd guitar. We recorded our demo that Winter. Another line-up change came when Paul rejoined the ranks after Owen went awol in the summer of 2001, Paul has since suffered a baffling medical condition which has forced him to leave. Owen has rejoined and will stay. If Paul is well enough to return Owen will concentrate on vocals. Chris decided to quit after Christmas. Rachel then went onto Bass.
At the time of writing this, we have decided to stay as a three piece. We have finally decided on a working term for our music - Dark Rock. |
