Artist History Whether we want to admit it or not, rock has fallen into a deep rut of look-alike and sound-alike bands. Is this unfortunate state due to a lack of originality or simply the result of an overbearing desire to make it by using a formula that has worked before? Either way, the desire for something refreshing and new has been growing. Unravel, from St. Petersburg, Florida, is a 5 piece band which offers an outlook on music that is pure and far from typical or mundane. Formed in late May of 2000, Unravel's music has grown into something that would far surpass the expectations of your average radio patron. Anyone who experiences Unravel for the first time will realize that it will not take long to consume the depth of emotion and artistic ability that is deeply imbedded in this unit. Prepare to be disappointed if you are expecting a run-of-the-mill "Nu-Metal" band. The sound that Unravel creates is a concoction of personal experience, musical experimentation and unadulterated emotion. Mixing the accurate yet unorthodox rhythm section of Chuck Barilla (Drums, Percussion) and Jon Allin (Bass) creates an interesting, groove-oriented backbone. Jon's large and highly expressive bass lines connect with Chuck's articulate and innovative drum work seamlessly. Justin Amend's (Vocals) singing style can be recognized and distinguished from any and all others. His unique phrasings, melodic aggression and pure emotion clearly define the Unravel sound. Eric Casper and Josh Fay (Guitars) create thick, moving rhythms with bold, almost keyboard like melodies. Accumulatively, Unravel is a band that explores musical dimension to the fullest and embraces an objective view on art. Inject all of the aforementioned with a high dose of raw energy and you have as close as words can get to a description of Unravel.
