Artist History
Ransom For Many came about when two friends, Matt and Nathan, had a dream to start a band. They had jammed in a few garage bands before, but nothing
solid ever came out of those, so one day they decided to start a band that would be serious. At first, they didn't necessarily know what style of music they
wanted to be or where they would find other people to be in the band. Around the same time, however, Matt and Nathan had been playing in a band with their
little brothers, so they approached their brothers (Marc and Jeff) with the idea of starting a different band. Marc agreed to it, but Jeff was a little reluctant at first.
Jeff decided he would jam with them and ended up staying with them. After a few months of practicing and beginning to write songs, Ransom For Many played
their first show on January 14th, 2000. The show went well and they continued to write music. Progressively, their songs took on a harder edge, and in about
September of 2000, Tim completed Ransom For Many by adding a second guitar to the mix. In April of 2001, Ransom For Many released a self titled EP, which
featured four tracks, including "A Simple Prayer", which has gotten radio play on several chicagoland stations as well as worldwide in Russia, England, and
Australia. On, August 10th, 2001 Ransom For Many was featured on a live radio segment on 104.7 WCFL. Aside from radio play, Ransom For Many has also
played at many chicagoland coffeehouses, churches, and even a few bars. One highlight however, was playing at the Peoria Civic Center for a youth conference
which had over 4,000 people in attendance. Ransom For Many's music is best described as music that is both enjoyable and aggressive. With many things to
say about life struggles and having faith to continue through them, their lyrics are thought provoking and provide a positive outlook into a music scene that is
drenched with negativity.
