BIO:
"Really, this isn't necessary" Josh says, as I take another photo. With every flash, he rolls his eyes and shakes his head with the shyness of a poet, and the poise of a rock star. You see this guy Josh, and you think here might be another singer-songwriter with a guitar, weeping away about some girl or world peace or something. Although those aren't necessarily topics he veers to or from, there's something more to this package. Stylistically his music ranges from rock to pop to reggae and back.
All of it catchy.
All of it exciting.
Josh was raised just outside of Dallas in the small suburban area of Richardson, Texas. He comes from an extremely musical family, all of which play some sort of instrument such as piano, violin, trumpet, and even guitar. Even at a young age, Josh was often found figuring out different pop songs by ear on the piano, and writing little compositions. Through high school in Richardson and college at UT Austin, he learned to play ten instruments and began writing out fully orchestrated songs on the piano. He came to realize that not only did he enjoy music, but he could actually make a career out of it.
Despite the years of training, Josh didn't truly utilize his degree in composition until the moment he picked up a guitar. Even though he enjoyed piano and the euphonium (yes, that's right, euphonium) Josh says something visceral happened when he picked up a guitar-- and thank goodness. The moment he begins to play guitar his music becomes undeniably poignant, fun, powerful, interesting, and most importantly - touching.
Since Josh began playing the guitar he has independently released two full length albums, Giosue and Electroacousticorama (the latter which is available on mp3.com). Josh has had critical acclaim for his music and popular acclaim for his ability to communicate a wide range of emotions. He has played for the Longhorn Band in front of hundreds of thousands of people and has shared the stage with many talented musicians across the country. His most recent project, Mr. Lucky (a funk/rock band he writes and plays guitar for), recently headlined the Autumn Fest in Fort Worth and is currently causing a steady buzz in the Dallas area. In addition, a song Josh wrote was sent to Maverick Records and received a tremendous response from many of the upper-level executives.
He says it's all about connection, and connect he most certainly does. Everywhere Josh plays people want more of his music. Among the thousands of people that have heard it, everyone shares the same thought: we know something you don't. We know him.
But don't worry - soon enough you will, too.
