Press Reviews
" I had not seen Mary Ann Mc Sweeney for a number of years and was pleasantly surprised to hear her playing so great on her new C.D"....Ray Brown."Wow! It's wonderful! You are playing absolutely great and the writing is stellar as well." ....Rufus Reid. " Authoritative walking lines, thoughtful solos that frequent the rich lower register, piquant originals like "Nana's Tango" and freshly-viewed covers such as "Amazing Grace" (recast in a minor key) all contribute to the Brooklyn-based Mc Sweeney's self-assured sound on her quintet driven solo C.D."....Bass Player Magazine Feb 2001. "She has a strong sound and a wealth of ideas"....Leonard Feather. " Mary Ann Mc Sweeney is one of the most outstanding jazz bassists to hit town in a long time"---James Reel ( Arizona Daily Star). "Mc Sweeney's sure time and big tone provide the needed push for challenging arrangements, which energetically update the Cool School style. Mary Ann retains an intelligent lyricism whether she's driving home a 4/4 burner, waiting for the next ballad downbeat, or soloing. ...... Bass Player Magazine. |
