Artist History
FBM History
It all started back in early 1999... when the lead singer from Twisted Desires called up a guy named Jeff to help their guitarist at one of their practices, Bob came along too. While nothing was getting accomplished for this band, Bob, Veronika, and Anna started to jam. This Jamming occurred quite often until this group of three started to play cover songs. In mid1999, these three kids: Bob, Veronika, and Anna began to call themselves "Fine by me". The name comes from the Simpsons episode when Bart was born; Homer says, "As long as he has eight fingers and eight toes, he is fine by me." By this time fine by me had a couple of original songs, "Stay Away" and "What's Wrong". You could have heard these songs being performed with their Greenday and Nirvana covers at various bars in the Concord/Walnut Creek area.
In March of 2000, Fine by me recorded their first, self-titled, demo EP. This CD featured a cat sitting with its legs opened on red velvet. The songs included were, Let Go, Stay Away, What's Wrong, and Anything. That three hundred dollar demo got the group pretty far in the East-bay scene and it even had an article in the CC Times. Jeff joined the group in the middle of all the excitement.
Fine by me was now a four piece. Many shows were performed with this line up and many songs written as well. Bob and Jeff worked as a team on stage and took hold of the performance. In March of 2001, FBM recorded their second EP, It's a drag; including: Killing Time, Blame, Can't take her back, and It's a drag. This CD was featured in the 2001 September issue of TEENpeople magazine. Finally the work they put in their music paid off.
Tension started forming around the beginning of 2001 with Anna and her band mates. Large arguments formed in the rehearsal room and some led to walkouts. Anna and the rest of FBM started to have totally different ideas with the band, nothing could ever be agreed on. So in March, Anna left Fine by me and now the other three were in search of a new drummer.
While the search went on, Bob wrote a lot of new songs and recorded them himself; this was the "That's what she said" EP. This included: Words For You, Mind of her own, Buried, and One more time. By August of 2002, Jeff found their now and present drummer, David, shopping at Guitar Center. They only had a few practices with David before they started playing out again. There was this indescribable energy when he played the drums; this energy was passed through everybody on stage giving FBM a jaw dropping live show. With this line-up, Fine by me has been really busy playing shows and winning battle of the bands. There is no trouble filling a venue with the new FBM.
FBM is now recording their first full length CD coming out sometime in March.
