Artist description
Six years ago rocksteady Ska-band, The Special Guests, got together in a damp, grey cellar in Berlin. In an attempt to emulate their favourite styles and due to the high proportion of wind instruments in the band, the young enthusiastic musicians decided that it would be most appropriate for their ensemble to play Ska, a decision which was established with alacrity after their debut gig. Their own repertoire grew and with it a small but quickly expanding fan-base. Following their debut as The Special Guests they performed with the likes of Dr. Ring-Ding, Mr. Review, Judge Dread, New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, Hepcat and Doreen Schaffer. In the seven years of their existence The Special Guests have come to belong to the established Ska-bands of Berlin. The Special Guests concerts, whether advertised or not are always full, so much so, that they would have you sweating like a pig. Key to the success of the band is their broad repertoire, from good old 1-2-3-in-the-***-ska, to Rocksteady pieces and Rootsreggae. Whatever the band performs, it is always exceptional and will always have fans dancing frantically. |
