Artist History
Matt Heinrich and Mike Schorsch have been playing together for four years in various rock and jazz groups. They formed The Yellow originally as a sort of folk duo, but their plaintive guitar-strumming quickly morphed into a maddening series of electronic squawks and beeps layered over ridiculous bass lines. Since then, they've been playing their music to anyone who'll listen, a group that often consists of pedestrians who avoid making eye contact and a selection of confused cats and dogs. |

Press Reviews
From a review of the song "Prison Break" at godsofmusic.com:"What a great little song. I've been immersed lately in heady expansive ambitious music. Great soaring acrobatics and interwoven multiplicities of meaning and Joycean narrative....how wonderful to hear a solid pop song that knows exactly what it is. And what "Prison Break" is, what The Yellow have offered us is just that, a very solid pop song. The verses are in a sparse 2/4 with what could very well be a Kimbal organ providing the chords. The chorus is a delightful Talking Heads-style souka that defies the listener's head and toes to reamin still. The lyrics are hints, Carver-esque peeks into the mind of a moment in a life. With tiny phrases such as "counting one one thousands" offering more in four words than many could provide with a paragraph The Yellow show great lyrical skill. "Prison Break" is a fun and charming pop that never takes itself too seriously but also never falls short of the promise of that which great pop is capable. I look forward to going back to the artist's site and listening to the rest of their songs." |
