Artist History Formed in ‘98 as spin-off project of Jap-punk-electro-surf(!) group Oyabando, The Irreversible Slacks surfaced as a straight-up, full throttle surf trio. Soon after their debut at Brooklyn's infamous "Only in 3's" party, guitarist Idlewild Slack, drummer Professor Slack, and bassist Skipper Slack (aka Carter, Wawro, and Elmquist respectively) were joined by guitarist Circus Slack (Heagle) to form the world-dominating quattro now appearing before the public. But the draw of adventure and yummy lucre split up our young lads as soon as they’d come up with a set to play; Professor Slack, author of “Legislative Entrepreneurship in the U.S. House of Representatives”, ditched town to crunch figures for the WHO (World Health Organization, of course). Circus Slack joined the circus, go figure, playing guitar around the US with Barnum and Bailey’s one-ring. Idlewild headed for parts unknown, hitting 26 airports (10 countries on 4 continents) in ’99 alone. And poor Skipper? He just lashed himself to the helm of his yacht “Mareva”, drank gin, and awaited signs of their return. SO, it wasn't until December '99 that all the band's members reunited in New York to put out the word: Surf's up in the Bad Apple.
