    Artist History
THE STORYPULL was formed in early 1997 when several members from the now defunct band Solace Mourner decided to reorganize and pursue a more serious direction. So after a bit of a lineup change, the band immediately begin writing original material and started playing out. People quickly realized these guys weren't just your average garage band, but rather some very experienced players who were full of new life and energy. It didn't take long for Pull to establish themselves as an enthusiastic band with a cutting edge for high energy rock & roll. This talented band consists of Jeff Garrett on bass, Edward Kinney on guitar, Nathan Horton on drums and Mykull playing keyboards. Vocal duties are shared between Jeff and Mykull which interestingly enough affords this band some slight variance in their sound due to the wider vocal range abilties. In late 1998 the band finally gave in to requests by the fans to lay some music down on tape. A three song demo was quickly recorded and released in time for their astounding New Years show. The music was a hit and over 500 CD's and tapes have been sold since then. (Not bad for a 3 song demo) The CD was also sent to Woodstock concert promoters and the band was picked out of thousands of entries to have the honor last summer of playing Woodstock 99. The band continued it's assault of rock by performing several other big show events including Nikstock which was another 3-day NY concert event similar to Woodstock. The year 2000 will bring more new music and concerts. Be sure to look for them at a club near you!Pull has recently released their first full length CD titled AHEAD. It features eight tracks that embrace the heavy guitar hooks and strong drum, bass and keyboard integration that has propelled the band to the level they are today. Since the release of this CD the band have been back out on the road once again delivering to the fans the "in your face" attitude typical of their live performances.

    Press Reviews
Interview courtesy of Music Outlook.ComApril 2000 CD Reviews Pull: AheadBy: Gary L. McCracken, Jr. In case you haven’t heard by now, Pull has just released their newest full-length CD entitled Ahead. This release rocks with the intensity of newer Anthrax, Godsmack, and Sevendust; but has an almost Dream Theater or Queensryche-like progressive touch with keyboards, samples, and nice vocal harmonies and layers that enhance the moods and atmospheres of the songs very nicely. A good blend of styles that makes you want to listen and not get bored with the same beats as some bands of these genres tend to do. The cool thing is they blend the two genres and succeed.Pull consists of Jeff Garrett on bass and vocals, Ed Kinney on guitar and backup vocals, Mykull on keyboards, backup vocals, and sometimes, lead vocals, and Nate Horton on drums. With one listen of this disc, it’s obvious this is not the first band any of these guys have been in. The experience of all is present in the way the parts come together at all ends, and everyone works very well off one another without trying to ‘steal the stage’.Mykull has some really cool keyboard solos, as does Ed with the guitar. At times they almost trade off in a showdown style barrage of riffs, but always stay balanced with one another. Very cool. Jeff’s voice can go from modern ‘growly’ type singers to the nice harmonic and balanced singers prevalent in progressive rock bands. Nate’s drumming always adds that extra flair and touch in between the riffs of the other members. This spices up the feel and makes sure you know he’s not just another basic drummer relying on one strength. Sometimes you have to listen for it, but the flashy fills and ‘quick-kick’ patterns are there. That’s the cool thing about these guys. It’s almost like you have to pay attention to what they’re all doing to see how they stand out individually; but if you just want to tap your foot to the overall music, you still can without feeling like there’s too much guitar, drums, or whatever. They’ve created a nice balance in most areas. This release was self-produced and mixed on PC by the band. You wouldn’t know it by the quality of the sound here. It’s very good and actually rivals, if not defeats some recordings I’ve heard from actual studios. I would recommend most people to invest in a PC and start your own studio if recordings like this are possible. Studios should take note as well, and most are from what I’m seeing nowadays in the industry.Overall anyone sick of the same old rock sound should check these guys out. They put on a pretty good live show as well. So either way, check them out. Any fan of rock music in any style should find something here they can tap their foot to. It’s got grooves that are really heavy yet melodic for most to enjoy. Pick this up if you need something a little different that will "Pull" you in, and may not let you go.
