    Artist description
Philosopher's Stone is a three-piece indie-rock band based in northern kentucky. The group is currently performing live shows throughout the mid-west region, forming the booming reputation, raising a very supportive following, and making friends everywhere. The band released their debut album "the goods & the ills" on march 12th, 2002. These gents are creating an alluring sound ... this is indie-rock music ... spreading through grassroots - friend to friend ... the PStone sound can be heard coming from cars, boom boxes, and computers from as far away as Scotland, Greece, Australia and Japan ... this is the indistinguishable sound of something new and exciting - an intelligent evolution of music ...

    Press Reviews
as reviewed by gary arthur brown at www.godsofmusic.com :"As soon as the vocals start I am sucked in. It's so sweet/sublime; it's a dreamscape. Silver guitar jangles and a whitewashed funk-hoppin' beat keep the groove while amazingly charming vocals are slid right up to the register without even getting the cashier's attention: you're out the door before you've even realized 5 minutes just passed. And you will be going back because your meal was excellent. This is one of those tracks that can be really vital and engaging without resorting to slamming on thick guitar distortion on the climactic points. And the vocal delivery is almost passive-aggressive. That is to say: I can feel his pains despite his never once raising his voice. Maybe pain isn’t the best translation there (I’m working from terribly ancient manuscripts), but all of life is suffering, right? So, I can see where this fellow is coming from. It's not very far from where I live, and probably, if you squint just a little while looking out your front window, you can see his house, too. It's there… between the thicket and the alley. It's really pretty unique. The thing that came to mind when I listened to this over and over was that it's like a Chili Pepper's ballad if they hadn't had all the soul sucked out of them by the Alternative Boom. There are trace readings of Frank Black, Elliott Smith, J. Mascis, and Lou Barlow there as well. It's almost the most moving piece of music I've heard all year, next to that new track by Fuel! Okay, that part was a joke. I wish you had made it. I'll try to keep that to a minimum. Bum-Badda-di-bumbum-bum, download it. It can't hurt you. It may even help you understand some things about music."
