Artist History
Micah Denzlinger is a rollercoaster ride, full of twists, turns, loops, drops, highs, and lows. He's as intense as he is mild, as energetic as he is laid back, and as naive as he is mature. When he smiles, he beams, and when he frowns, he scowls. Such is the myriad of music on his latest demo, "First Degree". Guided only by the passion for music deep in his soul, and the thrills and spills that life has thrown his way, his most recent work covers everything from personal pain and loss on the track, "The Best Thing", to a more positive, "get over it" message in "Toungue Tied and Motionless". The latter takes the listener on a musical journey through numerous influences from Blues to Jazz and Rock to Alternative. Micah hails from Port Arthur, a small Southeast Texas town with a vast musical history that has spawned such legends as Janis Joplin, The Big Bopper, Edgar Winter, and ZZ Top. At the age of 10, Micah began playing music as a means of escape. Not long after that, he began writing and composing. Back then, his music resembled some of his childhood musical influences such as Rage Against the Machine and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It wasn't long before he was playing publicly at parties, school gymnasiums, and the Beaumont State Fair. Contacts made from these humble beginnings led him to his first experiences in the recording studio. In his teenage years, Micah progressed to playing at local clubs and venues. Though limited by his age to the places that he could play, he became increasingly dedicated to his artform. With his melodic soulful vocals, solid guitar playing, and scarcely rivaled bass playing abilities, Micah has become an extremely sought after artist in the Southeast Texas music scene performing in regional touring acts such as "Riding High", "SmackDown Juntion", and "Train of Thought" just to name a few. This is why it comes of no suprise to me that, "PODUNK", one of the best Texas home based bands around who also originated in Micah's home town of Port Arthur recenly added him on to their roster as their new guitar player in May of this year. Now just into his twenties, Micah has definately found his GROOVE in life. This GROOVE transferred directly into his music, which is evident as he continues to grace the stages of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. His new sound has managed to transcend a generation, which has Gen Xer's heads bobbing and Baby Boomer's toes tapping. Whether it's a slow, power ballad, or a fast party starter, there's an unmistakable energy that runs through the heart of every note. |
