    Artist description
We are currently a duo looking to expand in the future. We play about 4 or 5 times a week (mostly in Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm) and record here at home. Our gigs are about 75% covers, and the rest originals. Both Ben & I sing and play guitar - and Ben also plays mandolin and steel drums (lead and double-seconds). Our sound is reminiscent of Sublime, but with a more Carribean flavor - we have some stuff that sounds more conventional too..All backing tracks are programmed into Cubase...and the bass lines on 75% of these songs were lent by our buddy Dom.Hopefully we'll get some TIGHT live drums for the next release...this one was more of a project.

    Artist History
Ben and I (Shane) went to high school together ten years ago, and we jammed through the few years after we graduated. In about 1997 we decided to name ourselves and define our styles by taking on the identity of "Category 5", a term used to describe the strongest hurricane possible (Andrew was only a 4...and we sat right in the middle!).Ben has studied music since he was 5 (literally) and after being diagnosed with an irreversable degenerative eye condition (macular degeneration) decided to take it on with a vengeance; he is definitely one of the best guitarists and pan players on the peninsula!I (Shane) have been studying music since age 14, and singing for about equally as long. After about 5 years Ben introduced me to Reggae and it has had my heart since. We are both 26 years old now.
