Artist description Animaltown is Peggy (bass/vocals), Dave (guitar/vocals) and Joel (drums). These three rockers are all originally from Winnipeg but have been living in Montreal for the past four years. Peggy and Dave started writing songs together in1998 and recently enlisted ace drummer-boy Mr. Joel to round out the rock 'n roll band configuration.What do they sound like? How about dark & spooky, creepy & crawly and sad but happy. The sound of Animaltown is the sound of three people who love to play music together and whose musical styles complement each other perfectly. Their boy/girl vocal harmonies and mellow passages bring to mind such bands as Low and Yo La Tengo, but they are equally prone to rock out in true Pixies or even Nirvana fashion. Their songs have been described as "songs that stick in your head for days and leave you feeling not quite like your usual self..." (not an actual quote).Although relatively new to the music scene Animaltown has already shared the stage with such acts as Greg Macpherson (Winnipeg), Iz Cox, Christine Fellows (Endearing Records) and Hoffenheimer (members of the Recoilers and Rhume). Their upcoming shows include a double bill with Natasha Alexandra at the Kathedral in Toronto and an opening slot for Vancouver's Clover Honey in Montreal. Animaltown will be touring across Canada this summer and then recording a full-length album in the fall.
