Artist description
The Stones are a US band dedicated to the world wide expansion of the traditional Celtic sound. We play a dizzying array of instruments: fiddle, concertina, button accordion, melodeon, wooden flute, tinwhistle, bouzouki, mandolin, hammer dulcimer, harp, banjo, guitar, bodhran, to name more than a few. We play traditional dance tunes in the Irish ceili style, as well as our own arrangements of traditional and original material. We cover a broad range of traditional folk songs, sea songs, and ballads. We hail from Iowa City, in the heart of the Midwest. When confronted by a request for some down and dirty Old-Time American tunes, we are more than willing and able to comply. Our primary objective is to cut loose, relax, and have fun with tradition Celtic music and to relay a large helping of our enthusiasm for this music to our audiences along the way. |
