Artist description Precious Roy Band is a New Jersey based Funk/Rock/Roots band who's goals are to be featured on VH1's "Before They Were Famous" but never appear on "Where Are They Now?". They have thus far achieved half of those goals.

Artist History Precious Roy Band was formed during the early summer of 2000 when ex-bandmates Mark Scott and Jake Williams decided to start a new musical project. They wanted to break free from the traditional rock scene that had plagued their earlier endeavors. They began a collaboration with drummer Darwin Morua, who's innovative style fit perfectly with the original sound that was beginning to take form. At around the same time, another former bandmate, Matt Goley, sat down to add some saxophone into the mix. A combination of complementing sax and guitar lines as well as vocal harmonies and extensive solos began to define the creative style of the band. The next step was to get all four musicians together and begin work on the project that would become the Precious Roy Band. Since three of the four members had played and written together before, a certain amount of chemistry was already in place, and the first rehearsals showed the great potential of the Precious Roy Band. They needed to finalize the band’s lineup by adding a bass player. Jake suggested calling upon David Makowka, a bassist who he had worked with in another previous band. David fit perfectly, and his playing has solidified the band’s foundation and helped to define a style that draws from various musical genres while maintaining a coherent musical vision. Precious Roy Band has just completed work on a five song EP, and is playing heavily through out the New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania area.
