Artist History Formed in late 1992 to perform at a guitar clinic in Virginia Beach, Potential Difference quickly became the favorite act of musicians in the Tidewater, Va area. Although capable of holding their own while opening for guitar giants such as Yngwie Malmsteen and Pat Travers, Potential Difference never received radio play until after the band's demise in 1996. Guitarist Jay Rakes is now featured in The Jay Rakes Band. After a stint with Christian artist Rebecca St. James, Andrew Payne returned to Virginia Beachto pursue his calling as a magician.
