Harder Beat Magazine, April 2000 Necrogazm (Harder Beat Showcase) - Sanctuary, 3/11/00 Did someone just say dead or dying orgasms? Seriously though, this group of young bucks were torked, cocked and ready to punish this Harder Beat Showcase crowd. Throughout the night, they had lethal, angry fortitude with riffs splintering into psycho maniacal churns and chugs. In addition, there was a battered assault from drums of doom and a deep, criminal bass, which brought up the bottom end well. Added to that were creepy, ghastly rhythms and eerie solos from both crazed guitarists. Necrogazm is a combination of death and thrash and very extreme. The vocals and frontman produce a torturing madness that pulls teeth and hair… insanity mixed with muscular metallic mayhem. The Necro buddies will slam-thrash you from first base into a home run-style climax of musical horror. Necrogazm is all hit and no miss. (Alexander Antonio) http://harderbeat.com/html/live_reviews.html Last month’s showcase Necrogazm brought in the most tickets at last month’s showcase at the Sanctuary and won $224. In addition to that they put on an impressive show. Guitarist Travis Boyd was constantly all over the stage, and the moshers were in full dance. Infestation opened the Showcase, as just a two-piece. Low Gear showed off their impressive new rap-metal sound and line-up, including the always-awesome performer, Roach. Lee Harvy (after getting busted - by a Sanctuary staff member and me - for giving out tickets in the parking lot), proceeded to diss the showcase from the stage. Seems they didn’t like their slot (2nd) - and thought they should have played last. They could have had (no) slot! We always arrange the bands according to style and/or heaviness of music. This particular showcase featured all heavy bands... so, as I explained from the stage in introducing Lee Harvy, the bands were lined up according to their style. Gee... I’ve been putting on these showcases for ten years... over 600 bands have participated in them, and this was the first time the showcase has ever been dissed from the stage. Grrrr. Other than that, a great time was had by all. http://harderbeat.com/html/showcase.html
