Artist History Kevin James first picked up a microphone in 1997 at the urging of his friend who noticed that he wrote poetry. His friend, a talented musician, dj, and visual artist asked Kevin if he'd be interested in writing a rhyme and kicking it on the mic at a jam session for his band. Kevin agreed and hasn't put the mic down since. The Son of Nun went through two names prior to this one, KAOS, and SERIOUS. Both names were taken and after some soul searching and reading the Bible, the name Son of Nun was chosen. The name Son of Nun refers to Joshua the son of Nun from the book of Joshua in the Bible. Kevin took this name due to the relationship between Joshua and God, the less popular status of Joshua as a character in the Bible overall, and those assumed aspects of Joshua's character that would enable him to make the decisions he was forced to make. The Son of Nun is also a survivor of cancer and an endurer of sickle cell anemia. His dealings with these obstacles, as well as the great disparity that exists between the classes from both a domestic as well as global stand point have greatly influenced his life as a whole.
