Artist History December 1998The two brothers Eef van Riet (guitar) and Jeroen van Riet (vocals) -who had been playing music together for about ten years- decide after the split of their last band "Wonderwheel" to combine their talents again into a new & improved alternative groove rock thing.January 1999Matthijs Gaspar (bass) -a good friend of the brothers- joined them.They couldn't find the right drummer so the basic idea of a rehearsal was:Writing songs together (w/o drums), after the concept was born, Eef records and plays drums himself, and on top of that the musicians played with a tape all the time.June 1999They record five song demo at their rehearsal place and after a few months Dutch recordcompany "New Road Music" seems to have interest in the band's music and offer them to record three songs in this label's own studio.January 2000Jochem Aarts (drums) is surfing on the net and sees an advert on www.drummersweb.com. It all seems pretty interesting to him, so he sends an e-mail to F33L3R. (Jochem has been touring and playing with The Nozems, Winnies Sister.)Being F33L3R's fourth and final member, he not only shares the musical interests of the other guys, but completes the overall chemistry that can be sensed all around this particular band.March 2000F33L3R finally records three songs at the New Road studio."eventide", "feeler" and "elaine".F33L3R is influenced by all kinds of rock music from the past 30 yearsThe songs are compact, atmospheric and groovy with a fair wall of guitars.Lyrics are mainly about everyday pains, laughs, breaks and loss... However, these tunes never let go of an omniscient taste of positivism, that combined with an undying source of inspiration and love for the music, tell us what F33L3R is all about.The name F33L3R is pronounced as 'feeler', and the meaning is quite obvious.Check 'em out live, on CD or through this site, and voice your own opinion a band that hopefully will stay in your heart and mind.

Press Reviews (in dutch)Fret - November 2000 DEMO VAN DE MAANDTussen de vele belegen rawk-/grunge-demo's die we maandelijks binnen krijgen, bevindt zich vrijwel nooit een band die tot de verbeelding spreekt. F33L3R (bookings@f33l3r.nl) is daarop een welkome uitzondering. Eigenlijk heet de band Feeler, maar die naam kan niet worden gebruikt omdat ze dan probleem krijgen met internet provider Freeler. Spil van de band zijn broers Jeroen (zang) en Eef van Riet (gitaar) die eerder hun de weg naar succes bewandelden met de band Wonderwheel. In januari 1999 voegde bassist Matthijs Gaspar zich bij de band. Begin juli dit jaar stond de groep in de huidige bezetting voor het eerst op het podium tijdens de bruiloft van drummer Jochem Aarts. Het eerste echte optreden was op 2 augustus in Gonzo, een van de podia in thuisstad Nijmegen. Rond die tijd waren ook de opnamen klaar voor een demo. Dankzij studiotijd aangeboden door New Road Music konden twee nummers worden opgenomen. Opener Eventide heeft een swingende groove en laat een opvallend volwassen geluid horen. Onze voorkeur gaat uit naar Elaine die onder de gitaarmuur ('a fair wall' noemen ze het zelf) een sterk liedje herbergt. Zanger Jeroen van Riet forceert zijn stem niet zoals veel van zijn Hollandse grunge-collega's wel plegen te doen.
