Artist History
Celtic music is enjoying unprecedented popularity. The Lash, a distinctly American band, has adopted the Irish sound and fused it with rock and roll, resulting in a turbo driven take on traditional Celtic music. The band combines folk instruments like accordion, banjo, mandolin and cittern with guitars, bass and drums. The result is unlike anything else found on the music scene. In bars, nightclubs and theaters all across the country, The Lash has been entertaining packed rooms with a show they call Celtic Mayhem.
The Lash was formed in 1996 by Mike Lynch and Rob Klajda. After five membership changes in as many years, the exact history of the band gets a little confusing. Despite all the coming and going, The Lash has remained an undeniable force in the world of contemporary Irish music. They have combined energy and showmanship with top notch musical finesse to provide a show that leaves both the band and the audience exhausted. Sharing the bill with a diverse list of names that includes The Clancy Brothers, Black 47, Eileen Ivers, Gaelic Storm, John Whelen, Seven Mary Three, Mitch Ryder and even Huey Lewis and The News has helped The Lash become everyone's favorite Celtic Rock ambassadors; a distinction they continue to build on by spending over one third of every year on stage.
2001 has brought the long awaited release of Every Direction, the second album by The Lash. Irish melodies and clever lyrics rest on top of Cajun, Latin and Rock rhythms in this exciting mix of traditional and contemporary sounds. The band is confident that this latest offering, introducing the talents of Adrian Bagale, Jason Scott and Tom Beller, will firmly establish them as America's premier Celtic Rock band. In the meantime they'll continue to do what they do best: travel the country with their energy soaked live show, hammering out an even bigger circle of fans. From the first crack of the snare drum to the final sigh of the accordion, at open air folk festivals and sweaty neon pubs, people are flocking to a new sound. The sound is Celtic Mayhem.

Press Reviews
" The Lash are that rare band that manages to have it both ways- they bring together the fire and fury of rock and roll with the mysterious, otherworldly joys and sorrows of traditional Celtic music, and the results are strong and engaging fun." Capitol Times |
