    Artist description
Rex Tangle is a solo artist who has performed with many bands over the years. He records all his tracks at home. He plays Guitar, Bass, Synth, Keyboards, Percussion, Drums, Programing, and other instruments. His first solo album involves 2 other guest musicians/friends. David Suycott from Chicago (Stabbing Westward, Machines of Loving Grace, Front 242)and Don Kirby from Los Angeles (Ravi Shankar, Ray Manzarek, and others). Dave and Don send Rex their tracks on a CD via mail, and Rex edits them and add his own tracks. On "Preface to a Dog" for example, the drum track was originally recorded by Dave for another of Rex's song. But he mixed it instead with one tampura track that Don had recorded in Pasadena, so the result is purely accidental. Rex, David and Don plan on doing more "via-mail-recordings" in the future... Stay tuned !

    Press Reviews
Rex Tangle lays down the gauntlet for so-called Renaissance Men the world over with his stunning debut CD "Pipe Dog". Sparring with such Unter-ground and Unter-pop heavyweights as Stabbing Westward and Lydia Lunch,web-renowned hex-pistol Rex Tangle fills the aural canvas with his built-in, crack band of musical-alter egos. Echoes of early'80s King Crimson seque seamlessly into intimations of mid-'80's, Paris-based Talking Heads, yet it's invariably signature Rex. From one LP comes waves of Pink Floyd, Beatles Baroque and even neo-'60s Easy and Now Sound influences, yet the ocean is ever Rex, able to be himself and the Other at the same time, the mark of a true professional. Technology is cheap and available to everyone and surely anymore one is limited only by one's imagination, and Rex's is a deep and impressive one. It's one thing to have the gear to make Dark Side of the Moon in your cupboard, it's another thing to have the chops and vision to go for it and make the grade. Rex does in vivid, digital 3-D. A choice mission. Check it out. -J.J. Tindall, Chicago IL. Rex Tangle is a master of the three way relationship among composer, music and listener. Rex combines those qualities that permit art to reflect society and life with humor and fascinating new sounds. There is a rising and falling melody, waves of coming action, as if something large is coming this way from just around the corner. There are long, short, vibrating, hollow and straight-in-your-face, symphony-like sounds; strange, new, daringly poetic lyrics. Something turns the listener's head upon first hearing, and keeps the audience's attention throughout, here and there bringing affirming nods and occasionally laughter. Each song is as unique as an individual in a ring of champions. Unpredictable, refreshing, timeless, this is what you put in when friends are around. -Michael Uyder, Denver CO. Brian Eno meets the Beatles. Everybody was there....George, Robert, Frank, Tiny Tim. Even I sat in with another friend, well sorta... We sent Rex some trax from California and Chicago on CD's. He mixed 'em up good with a dab of voodoo and the flair of a king. King of his own bad self from the bottom up, blowing the roof off of preconceived notions. Hey sparky, wanna have some fun ? Just listen.....Good Lord Almighty! That's some cool holy hell my mama never told me 'bout. You say you don't like that mood ? Listen to the next one......it'll change. Listen to the lyrics....you'll think. I'm thinking, it reminds me of myself. The things that are best about myself. Even the parts other people don't like. I've been waiting a long time to hear music like this. Lots of favorite feelings from friends and far places found a home in Rex's recording. And there is plenty about Rex to like. Mr. Tangle makes music that makes the world a little easier to live in. With a little help from his friends. -Don Kirby, Pasadena CA.
